I have a question about Oklahoma child custody?

JustMe asked:
I am considering moving out of state. I have custody of my 3 children. I was wondering what moving out of state would do to our visitation agreement? RIght now we have the standard every other weekend thing, but if the kids and I move, neither my ex husband nor I would be able to afford that kind of travel. This move would be good for the kids and I, but I don’t want to be held in contempt for breaking the agreement.

Under ANY jurisdiction you are not allowed to leave without prior consent of the COURT. If you do, you may be charged with kidnapping! Yes, even though they are your kids…sorry!

Usually custody agreements have a statement about how many miles you can move from the non-custodial parent.
You would have to get that modified in court and he would have to agree.

Apparently, you have to go to a judge to get permission to move out of state when ur divorced and have the kids. I was in the middle of a divorce when I moved TO oklahoma because my lawyer stabbed me in the back, my ex took over the divorce and then used the Neb court system to steal my kids from me, because legal aid here in Okla. would NOT help me . It’s a tricky buisness and if you don’t have ur ex’s permission, you could get into a lot of trouble.
